Offered for bids is this rare and lovely Sony TR-63. It was manufactured in Japan in1958. It is being offered in its original as-found condition. The radio still works and receives stations but may need some servicing due to its age.
TheTR-63 is thought to be the first consumer product released in 1958 by Sony into the American market. It is a highly prized and sought-after transistor radio by collectors.
TheTR-63 was offered in four different colors; red, green, yellow and b...lack. This one is the yellow and red color.
The overall condition is very good. There is one very small “ding” in the metal grill cover and a few small “hairline” cracks on the upper left corner. The back cover is slightly loose. The original Sony label is intact on the inside of the back cover as are the battery and serial number labels. All six original transistors are embossed with the Sony name.
