Up for auction is a rare offering, a Sioux Par fletch Red Ochre Bag with the original Buffalo Horn tacked scoop circa 1850's. The bag measures 6" wide by 9" long. It is made out of brain tanned leather and trade cloth and painted with natural paints. It has the original Red Ochre stained buffalo horn cup/ scoop that has been tacked and cut with triangle shapes with it. It measures 4" long by 2-1/4" wide. Most likely a Shamans bag. Red Ochre was used by prehistoric man for thousan...ds of years mainly for special ceremony's. This piece is out of the Lutheran Reverend Ernest Von Kronwitter that was from Germany but was doing Missionary work in the Dakotas and other Indian Reservations in the early 1900's He collected these items and took them back to Germany before World War 1 broke out.
