RARE Salvador Teran Marbel Mexico 22K Plated Wide Aztec Pottery Face Necklace

Offered here is a scarce vintage 1960s Mid Century Mod Necklace by renown Mexican, designer Salvador Teran for Marbel. This choker necklace measures approx. 16" in length. It is composed of a very wide heavily embossed 22k gold plated links with a central Aztec Mayan Black ceramic glazed pottery mask. The center of this necklace is 1/3/4" by 2". It closes with a hold tight tongue and box clasp. It is marked on the back for Marbels Mexico and Salvador #11.
The necklace wi...ll lie flat on your neck and is sure to fetch many compliments. This necklace has been well cared for and is in excellent estate condition.

The works of the famous Mexican jewelry designer and silversmith Salvador Teran are Rare and highly collectible. Salvador Teran (1920-1974) was born in Taxco, Mexico and received his early training at William Spratling's Taller de Las Delicias. In 1939 he and his cousin left Spratling to establish Los Castillo. Salvador started his own company in 1952 in Mexico City. His works were inspired by many pre-Columbian motifs. His superior craftsmanship and works became very popular with fine jewelry connoisseurs. He designed for the prestigious Marbel department store in Mexico City.
