ABOUT THE ARTIST:Quentin Quam is from the Zuni Pueblo which is on the west side of NM & the people there are known for their intricate detailed work, whether phenomenal picturesque mosaic of stone & shell to their meticulously cluster work.Whatever art it is, their work is the most time consuming & personally, some of the most beautiful out of all tribal work..Quentin is a reputable artist that is highl...y collectible! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DESCRIPTION:For the Zuni, Owls are the Guardians of the night & protectors of the village.Their sounds alert people to the coming of enemies & danger.
This ‘piece of art’ is made by Quentin, who is a Master Zuni inlay artist, who cuts each of these tiny, tiny stones (or shell) all by hand & then lays each within the sterling, giving you this very picturesque piece of art in metal form.The detail is impressive & remarkable & how he makes these with such accuracy, should give true appreciation to this artist!!! When mosaic is done on this tiny of a scale takes skill & is very time consuming & extremely challenging to work with this small of stone..
Sitting perched & glaring for miles out in the distance, sits the Snow Owl who is finely detailed & is made of white shell & is given all minuscule naturalistic detailed markings known to the Snow Owl! There are winged layers, black spotted detailing & dark black eyes.The Owl is finely displayed upon a thick 1-1/2” rectangular shape beveled sheet & sits on a 3 spread split shank to accommodate the size & give it balance.Marquise cuts of red Italian coral emulate a floral design that sits behind this mighty bird!
Definitely a ring to be cherished & deeply admired! It will be hard to take your eyes off this one!!
