Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a somewhat rare 1950's era American D-33 dynamic omni-directional microphone made in Pasadena, California complete with original American desk stand. You can see in pic # 2 from an old American catalog this very model. The D-33 was the more expensive version of this series. I believe it had a far better frequency response than the more common and cheaper D-22 model but this mic has bee...n tested and the original element is no longer working on either setting so it should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only.. The American brand was known for making high quality and often more expensive microphones. This unique and elegantly designed microphone was produced as a general purpose microphone. The D-33 had a run of about 10 to 15 years before being discontinued. It has a beautiful two tone finish that was a unique signature of the American Microphone Company. As you can see the overall finish has a minimum of wear even after years of use. This mic is free of any dents, heavy scratches or fractures. Just a few scuff marks and one small nick on the tube. The badge looks very nice as well. There is no missing hardware and the mic is solid inside and out. The joint mechanism has lots of tension too getting just the right angle needed. There is no wear on the front silk screen as seen in pic # 5. She'll make a very unique and beautiful display piece anywhere in the home, office or studio if you choose not to use it. It has a short cable with the old female Cannon XLR connector that fits snug into the mic with no play. The end connector is a female 1/4 inch piece. Cable is soft, pliable and free of damage. It completes the look of the mic as well making it ideal for prop use. Simply attach any longer 1/4 inch cable if needed. The original American D-33 mic case is included. It's in very good overall condition with lite wear but functions perfectly and a great place to store the mic when not being used. Makes for a nice accessory as well for resale value. The blue silk interior looks very good and the locking mechanism on the top lid works without issue. The mic comes with a very nice period Altec brand 34A model microphone desk stand with a satin chrome finish that is made from aluminum. This stand was very modern for its time and had that midcentury modern contemporary vibe to it. It was somewhat similar to the other cast iron Altec models but far more sleek and much lighter. You rarely see these around and this really compliments the D-33 This desk stand has a wide stable platform that makes it ideal for those longer, heavier screw on mics of that era. The dimensions of this stand with mic are appx 5 1/2 inches deep X 4 inches wide X 11 inches tall. The stand has a nice overall finish with just very lite wear and comes with it's 3 original pads. The 1 inch chrome stem / riser has no wear to it and will accept any mic clip or screw on microphone. This will do just about any mic collection justice and has a very unique look all it's own. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy.
