This auction is for a stunning example of a crinoid fossil of the species Pentacrinites fossilis from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.The fossil measures 25 mm (0.96 inches) across and consists of a complete head with highly detailed arms and pinnules preserved on top of the original piece of driftwood on which the animal lived. It is a rare tiny juvenile animal that is not often found in this condition and rarely offered for sale. ...;It is preserved in limestone with no pyrite. These crinoids are very sought after and not easy to find these days. This one is a very fine example and of a quality not often offered for sale.Around 196 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
