HP-82104A 1943AHewlett Packard HP-82104A card reader (version 1D) for HP-41C/CV/CX—Excellent Condition and workingThis is a Hewlett Packard HP-82104A card reader from 1979 made in the U.S.A.
This card reader was serviced to a very high standard by Richard J. Anthony ('plasmoid' on eBay). It is in excellent condition and is fully functional.
I am thinning out my collection of HP calculators, accessories, and peripherals. Watch out for more items soon.

Condition
It is USED, in Excellent Condition (grade EC). Serviced and rebuilt by Richard J. Anthony in August 2009. Tested a few days ago, and it of course still works perfectly.
The card reader is simply perfect*. When servicing card readers, Richard not only replaced the wheel (typically gummy) using tubing (rather than the more typical O-rings), but he also checked and replaced/fixed the motor, clutch, clips, springs, contacts and pads (gold plating), checked the electronics and recording/reading head, repaired cracks in the casing, smoothed pry marks, etc. It was expensive, but top-notch and always worth it.
* Besides a very slightly worn rubber foot, and a minor pressure mark on the left clip. There are no crack or broken bits of plastic.

My style of grades; subjective, but finicky.ECExcellent Condition—Just excellent, with possibly a few hard-to-spot imperfections and marks. Gradings: EC-, EC, EC+VGCVery Good Condition—A few marks, but overall very good. Gradings: VGC-, VGC, VGC+.GCGood Condition—Several marks and scratches, with some of them quite visible, and maybe a few being rather large. Gradings: GC-, GC, GC+.RCReasonable Condition—Many marks, scratches, gashes, damage, and several are quite visible. Gradings: RC-, RC, RC+.
