NATIVE AMERICAN - PORCUPINE QUILL AND BEADED SANTAN SIOUX MOCCASINS - 1880 - 1910

Last sold at Allard Auctions in Phoenix for $975; offering here as a prized collectible set of antique beaded and porcupine quill moccasins. The moccasins are beaded along the bottom, just above the sole, that goes 3/4 of the way around each mocassin. The upper leather is covered with a red porcupine quill floral pattern. As expected, there is some wear on the soles but no holes or significant damage. There is no thread separation between the sole and ...uppers and no holes or damage to any of the leather. The porcupine quills, usually flatten by the maker by drawing them through their teeth, are worn in places but continue to show the floral pattern with clarity. The upper hide is soft, thin and light, while the soles are more solid, thick, hard leather. The seams are natural sinew and in good condition. These mocassins measure approximately 10-1/2" long and 3-1/2" wide. They are obviously well aged but in good condition - please use the photos for your own evaluation.
