ATCHISON TOPEKA SANTA FE LM-192 FIVE CHIME STEAM WHISTLE. This is a whistle off of a Baldwin Locomotive built for ATSF railroad. It was manufactured by Locomotive Finished Material Co. (LFM) of Atchison, KS.This whistle is from a freight engine, but Ihave no way of knowing what engine it was fitted to. I know that it was purchased in 1950 from a Second Hand store in St Louis, and that person sold it to us in Washington in 1976.
The first time I heard it, a cow jumped straight ...up into the air, and came down running backwards; It makes a truly exotic sound.This whistle had so many layers of paint, it was yellow, green and red when my dad bought it, so the paint so the paint was stripped off of the iron bell and the brass base, there are no cracks in either casting.Whistle weighs 47 pounds and will ship this in a plywood box.Ships to North America.Locomotive not included.
