Although published without a title, it is generally known by the names Skull and Roses (due to its iconic cover art) and Skull Fuck (the name the band originally wanted to give to the album, which was rejected by the record company).Live/Dead is the first official live album released by the rock band Grateful Dead. Phil's bass is really high in the mix but I kind of like it that way. Short album but really fun and lively. I originally bought this album on vinyl back in the 70s. The original vinyl release was a two-album set, which had some awkward breaks at the ends of each side of the record.The Grateful Dead's fourth title was likewise their first extended concert recording. Spread over two LPs, Live/Dead (1969) finally was able to relay the intrinsic sonic magnificence of a Dead show in real time. Additionally, it unleashed several key entries into their repertoire, including the sidelong epic and Deadhead anthem"Dark Star" as well as wailing and otherwise electrified acidic covers of the Rev.
