Original Description:
This auction features a truly fantastic 7-color Red Mesa Navajo textile, measuring 44" x 31" with a warp/weft count of approximately 14-18, making it more of a textile instead of an ordinary rug. I suspect it was a competition piece, due to the high warp/weft, the unique colors, and the small string on one of the tassels, which probably had an award or a tag with the weaver's name (photo #7). The colors are so vivid and eye-grabbing, the outlining really makes it pop. It would look fan...tastic hung on a wall.
It is in excellent condition, no bug bites or holes, has all four tassels (2 each), and it is very clean. Probably circa 1960-70, high warp/weft count, definitely an experienced and well-known weaver. If anyone happens to recognizes the artist I would appreciate the info!
