Photos are enlarged representations of the gold quartz cab.
This 'California Amber' is a beautiful U.S. collaboration between native gold and quartz. Butterscotch and amber is how I would describe the residual colors swirling amongst the whiter patches of matrix. Brilliantly-yellow gold radiates from this thin, oval cab. The native Californi...a minerals family outdid itself in giving birth to this baby. This exotic gold quartz cab measures 1 mm long, 10 mm wide, and 1.8 mm thick. Except to say it's from California's Mother Lode, the exact origin is unknown. The Mother Lode must source the best gem-grade gold quartz in the world. For natural beauty and rarity, this gem is in a class all it's own.

As the operator/sole proprietor of Gold of Eldorado, I actively mined gold for 18+ years. Beginning long ago, in a past life, perhaps, something in the golden mystique of this rare, precious metal attracted me to it. Searching for Au (gold), working with it in it's multitude of forms has become a life-way. This passion is what fuels my desire to bring these new  discoveries  to your attention.

If, like myself, you're an avid fan of gold, please let me know of any specific sizes, colors, or cabochon-shapes you might be interested in. I may be able to accommodate you with a custom-made creation.

MY OLD STOMPING GROUNDSSometimes called THE FATHER LODE,  extensive placer deposits in Trinity County, California were set upon by white miners back in the mid 1800s. My own five year sojourn here took place between the years of 1985 and 1990. Many eons before human diggers arrived, water and erosional forces had laid down gold-bearing sediments on a monumental scale. These ancient lakes and riverbeds were subsequently cut into by running water. This down-cutting created vertical terrain in which elevated components of the old deposits were left intact. Though mostly washed down by the 'Giants' now (hydraulic cannons), these remnant formations were originally discovered by the 49ers and their salty followers. If you want to see what remains from one of these old operations, check out the LA GRANGE MINE on Oregon summit a few miles west of Weaverville on infamous highway 299. A succession of argonauts moved in, chewed up the gold-bearing formations, and spat them back out again off the ends of their sluiceboxes. Mountains of boulders and hundreds of old mining 'cuts' attest to the miner's efforts. Towns sprang up too. The vestiges of a civil, polite society grew out of these gnarly roots of humanity. Rich gravel deposits were blasted down over a territorial quadrant encompassing roughly 50 to 75 square miles. On an equally massive scale,  bucket-line dredges churned up creeks and tore through river-bottoms grabbing the precious metal found near bedrock.
Squeezed in (or squeezed out) amongst these larger operations were the uncountable minions of small-scale,  independent miners.  They came rushing in from the four corners of the earth, every cut and color, with picks,  shovels, rockers, gold pans,   and 'long toms'. In time, miners discovered that  'while poor men work, the rich man keeps all the gold". Merchants, saloon-keeps, freighters, painted ladies, and resourceful swinders thrived. A few hardy argonauts might have struck it rich, but only a handful.  A lot of them made a living, though probably not much of one considering the cost of goods and services. What a colorful era it must have been. Now, with today's astronomical gold prices,  look for a whole new breed of adventure-seeker and fortune hunter to be out there scouring those hills and valleys. You might as well try your hand. Who knows, you might get lucky and find something bigger than 'frogs hair'.Have you seen God in his splendor, Heard the text that nature renders? You'll never hear it in the family pew.The simple things, the true things, The silent men who do things, Then listen to the wild, it's calling you.from Call of the Wild by R.Service    SHIPPING AND HANDLING U.S. BUYERS - S & H $5.00 (tracking and insurance included)ATTN: INTERNATIONAL BIDDERSS&H via USPS - $13.50
