Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface and described the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."Apollo 11 effectively ended the Space Race and fulfilled a national goal proposed in 1961 by President John F. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module Eagle on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC.   Armstrong and Aldrin then moved into the lunar module Eagle and landed in the Sea of Tranquillity. Michael Collins piloted the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon's surface.  Apollo 11 was launched by a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida, on July 16 at 13:32 UTC, and was the fifth crewed mission of NASA's Apollo program. The Apollo spacecraft had three parts: a command module (CM) with a cabin for the three astronauts, and the only part that returned to Earth; a service module (SM), which supported the command module with propulsion, electrical power, oxygen, and water; and a lunar module (LM) that had two stages, a descent stage for landing on the Moon, and an ascent stage to place the astronauts back into lunar orbit. After being sent to the Moon by the Saturn V's third stage, the astronauts separated the spacecraft from it and traveled for three days until they entered into lunar orbit. Armstrong and Aldrin then moved into Eagle and landed in the Sea of Tranquillity. The astronauts used Eagle's upper stage to lift off from the lunar surface and rejoin Collins in the command module. They jettisoned Eagle before they performed the maneuvers that blasted them out of lunar orbit on a trajectory back to Earth. They returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24 after more than eight days in space.Collectors Hints - Space and Aviation Firsts © 2017Collectors Hint 1  - Acquisition of 'Rare' Historical Offerings!I learnt a long time to obtain 'rare' offerings when they appear as I lost out on a few key Historical Mission Pieces due to hesitating. One was an X-15 photograph signed by 11 of the 12 surviving X-15 Pilots, one being Neil Armstrong.  I have never seen the offer again during the past 25 years.  I suggest when an opportunity presents itself, make the decision for your collection and act!  Remember!  Spacecraft; flown spacecraft artifacts and signed art for Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Vostok, Space Shuttles and X-Series Aircraft are extremely collectable especially with the 50th Anniversary of the First Moon Landing by Apollo 11 in 2019 with further Apollo Flight anniversaries following.Photograph Credits:Photo 1 - The Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' - Crew; Neil Armstrong; Michael Collins; Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin flown to the Moon! [each with a limited edition numbered Certificate of Authenticity printed on the reverse side] Photo 2 - A close view of the stunning Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' flown to the Moon and returned with the First Apollo Crew to land. Photo 3 - A closer view of the stunning Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' flown to the Moon!Photo 4 - A 'zoomed in' view of the stunning Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' flown to the Moon!Photo 5 - The entire Apollo 11 Crew including; Neil Armstrong (centre]) Michael Collins (left); Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin (right) [not included]Photo 6 - Another image of this magnificent Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' - Crew; Neil Armstrong; Michael Collins; Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin flown to the Moon!Notes: This is serious and enjoyable premium quality Art Space and Aviation Collecting.  If an offer is to be made,  please understand the offer needs to be very seriously 'close'!  The extremely restricted 'time and availability' of Historical Items such as this simply means that once they are gone, that's it!  [Due to the extremely restricted availability of 'Limited Editions', all purchases are subject to final availability at the time of your order].SizeThis Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' is presented and mounted in the centre of a matted picture that is approximately;17cms -  6 3/4 inches wide and 23cms - 9" high each with its own numbered Certificate of Authenticity [CoA] on the reverse side. The picture illustrates Apollo 11 just after 'splashdown' - note the 'biohazard' suits worn by the recovery swimmers.ShippingYour magnificent artifact shipping Worldwide is included as my gift to you. This is a great buy and offering for International, UK, US, European and Asia Pacific Collectors. Make this Historical artifact yours!ConclusionA magnificent World, U.S., NASA and Apollo Program historical 'flown' artifact, stunningly presented. An authentic Apollo 11 'Flown Command Module "Columbia" Heat Shield Fragment' - Crew; Neil Armstrong; Michael Collins; Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin flown to the Moon!  [each with a limited edition numbered Certificate of Authenticity printed on the reverse side] Eight Apollo Missions orbited the Moon.  Only six Apollo Missions each landed two Astronauts on the Lunar Surface.  Apollo 11 was the 1st, followed by the later Apollos: 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17.  [Apollo 13 missed out with the unfortunate circumstance of the Command Module 'Oxygen Tank' rupturing caused a 'Space Emergency' watched by the World for three days as the Crew and NASA fought to bring back the entire Apollo 13 Crew alive.]This is a 'Lifetime' gift and/or treasure for any serious Space enthusiast.  Please order now so that you do  not miss out! Please remember to 'click' "Visit Shop" in the top right corner of this listing to see the many other great offerings inside 'Space and Aviation Firsts''A Passion in Life is a Life well Lived!'Kind Regards,
