Very Early WWII German Death Card, KIA DURING INITIAL 1940 INVASION OF The Western Front, Handwritten Additional InformationDESCRIPTION: Very scarce, original WWII German death card for a young soldier KIA IN the initial1940 invasion of the Western Front, one of the earliest casualties of WWII. Specifically:1) "Sergeant Michael Zandt, who heroically died on March 21, 1940, aged 26". NICE PHOTO IN DRESS UNIFORM WEARING SHARPSHOOTER'S BRAID. You can see the handwritten additions in ...the scan. Very old writing, black fountain pen, obviously done by someone during the war years. Looks like "9./JR. 499", "Geb. 4.VII. 1913 in Nurnburg" (birthday), and "2./J.R. 19". I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS, AND IT IS INTERESTING TO SEE SOMETHING SO PERSONALIZED. Done by the sender or probably the receiver. One of the earliest casualties/death cards you will find. Excellent condition.Original card, over 80 years old, and a nice face and story to a soldier who otherwise would be a forgotten statistic. No additional postage with multiple purchases. Items are sold ONLY as historical artifacts and I respect the bans of such items in France, Austria, or any other countries where bids cannot be accepted.
