Fresh from a Southern estate comes this beautiful Chippendale style solid mahogany tea table, manufactured by Baker in the 1970s. The table was purchased from a high-end furniture store in Worcester, MA in 1978, and has been displayed in an barely used dining room ever since. There is some cracking to the fretwork that I have documented in pictures. However, it is not visible in real life unless ...you search for it.
Info on the Baker Furniture Company: Operating for over a century, Baker Furniture is one of the rare brands that have garnered an irrevocable place within the canon of American design and craftsmanship. Established in 1890 in Allegan, Michigan by Siebe Baker, an immigrant from the Netherlands, Baker initially began as a door and cabinet shop, but by the 1920s had begun offering collections of handcrafted modern and art deco furniture. Over the course of the following decades, Baker expanded its practice drastically, growing to include an extensive upholstery division and producing comprehensive collections of furniture. Most notable of their early collections were those inspired by classic English and Chinese silhouettes and motifs. Since then, Baker has continued to draw inspiration from international styles, including French provincial, Danish modern, and others – all executed with the same allegiance to craftsmanship and quality. Baker’s iconic stature within the realm of home furnishings has led to many high-profile collaborations with leading designers, including Barbara Barry, Thomas Pheasant, and Bill Sofield. Today, Baker offers pieces in a multitude of styles from traditional to contemporary, mooring any interior design scheme. The Collectors Edition by Baker Furniture is inspired by iconic Chippendale styling with a raised gallery of carved fretwork over a matchbook veneered top. Features a pullout tray along each end and fluted legs.
