Hello. It is very important that you read this whole itemdescription section and view all pictures so you can knowEXACTLY what you will be buying.
First things first: I AM NOT an expert or collector on ANYkind of Military items but these 2 items will be describedto the best of my ability - please use photos as your guideand feel free to message with any questions.
Just so you know: I DO ...NOT own two of this same items and pictures areof the actual items that you will be receiving. BOTH Items came out of astorage unit that i bought(i buy storage units) and they are both being soldas found(just as you see them in the pictures).
1.) The horse bit(based on my research) is SUPER RARE. It is "marked" - Under magnification it says "C & W" on one side and on the other side it appears to have the initials of W.M.E (see pictures # 7 & 8).
IMPORTANT: I DID find in the internet 2 horse bit with the marking of C & W, but NONEthat had the initials of W.M.E.....it could have some other markings, i just don't see them.
The horse bit looks great(my opinion) for being this old(still has the original TRUEPATINA). The U.S. Brass Medallions on BOTH sides are tight & intact...OVERALLNICE CONDITION WITH NORMAL WEAR FROM USE.
2.) The Horse Breeching Harness(based on my research), is EXTREMELY RARE( i don't see any markings on it) but just by looking at it, it's OLD.
Picture # 10 shows how wide the back strap is(it's very wide, approximately 3 1/2inches, but the top strap is still wider at 4 inches., and very, very THICK) - it is alsopretty HEAVY(it weights approximately 7 pounds).
Based on my research this kind of straps/breeching were used to pull Military cannons(artillery), and are extremely hard to find in ANY condition(based on my research onlymuseums have them(very few museums have them)...OVERALL NICE CONDITIONWITH NORMAL WEAR FROM USE.
BOTH pieces have the original true patina(meaning, they have not been cleanedin any way, shape or form).
There is verdigris on both medallions and there is alsoverdigris on most of the breeching rivets which to memakes it more authentic and more beautiful knowingyou are getting an authentic piece of history(in this case, 2 authentic historic pieces).
