Offered is a fascinating split nodule from the Late Permian of Madagascar, preserving in fine detail, an essentially complete torso of the aquatic lizard-like reptile Barosaurus besairiei Piveteau, 1955.At 17cm (along the spine), this is a good sized example, from the Lower Sakemena Formation (Lopingian) of the Morondava Basin. An almost complete vertebral column, with fine and complete ribs supports both limb girdles and several main bones of the fore-limbs and hind-limbs.
