This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri shape, Edo period ca.1700 era made blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in mint condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. The forgin...g grain is tight itame-hada, no opening, no blister and no forging flaws. There is no bend, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is urushi lacquered wood scabbard, no dents, no crack and in excellent condition. The handle is tight fit with silver overlay copper fuchi/kashira, tsukaito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba is marugata shape iron sukashi tsuba with nice patina. It came with copper handle kozuka, no bend, no nick and in good condition. It measures 15+1/2" cutting edge, 1+1/16" width, 4.5 mm thickness at the notch and 23" in mountings.
