Four Sketches of Sugus Iron Works for framing produced by The Charles H. Overly Studio. The Saugus Iron Works was constructed in Hammersmith, Massachusetts in 1646. Often described as "The Cradle of American Industry." This was the inception of the great blast furnaces of Pittsburgh, the auto plants of Detroit and the steel plants that produced the rails for train transport and mining. These four sketches of early scenes of Saugus Iron Works were produced by the Charles H. Overly Studi...o by artist L. Webster. These were made in the Overly pencil sketch style. I believe these were a limited production to raise funds for the archeological work and reconstruction of the site, now a National Park. This portfolio and additional newsletter clippings (included) were used for a feature article on the site written by June Culp Zeitner around 1952.
