The crinoline lady was reputed to be Madame Pomp odour, the favourite mistress of Louis V
The crinoline lady is embroidered wearing an aquamarine dress with rose pink and dusky pink features. Her bonnet is in rose pink and trimmed in peach and bluebell blue
She is surrounded by dusky pink hollyhocks, Canterbury bells, pink roses, blue and peach frangipani type flowers, and... the most attractive silky daisies ranging from peach through glorious shades of apricot giving a delightful sunburst effect.
The colours of the daisies are mirrored in the small flowers at the lady's feet, which are feature lime and jade foliage, as is all the foliage.
Above the lady's head are clouds in shades of azure, a flock of five birds in deep chocolate with a bough of a tree in lime green.
This is all encompassed in a circle of sunburst gold
Each corner features a spray of azure and sunburst gold daisies with an apricot frangipani type flower. The foliage is in lime and jade green
The measurement is 30.inches square
The scalloped edge is finished in lilac silk
This is a charming tablecloth and one of the loveliest I have come across with it broad pallet of beautiful colours which are reflected in the silkiness of the good quality silks.
The embroidery is of a good quality
The linen is of a good medium weight with a bouncy french quality
This is in very good condition
