Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:4331763 |
The model is called "Universal Calculator"
It is very good condition with a polished chrome case and black 'leatherette' back
Of particular interest is that scratched into the chrome edge is the letters 'UKAEA'. This indicates that it was used in research for the UK Atomic Energy Authority, probably at Harwell near Oxford. UKAEA was created in 1954, and most of its early activities were related to the UK's nuclear weap...ons programme. Between 1952 and 1958 UKAEA carried out 21 nuclear weapons tests in Australia and the Pacific.
Both the scale and cursor move freely when the appropriate knurled knob is turned
The glass has a piece missing approx 40 mm long at the edge which allows the glass to come out
The leather case is original Fowler but is too large for this calculator (it would fit the magnum range), and has an owners name inked onto the inside flap
