HIDDEN in the HEARTWOODMystical Wood Spirit Homes“The House Where Love Dwells"lovingly found by and hand carved byPAT WILSON Deep in the bark of ancient cottonwood trees, the little houses of The Great Forest come to life under the gentle touch of the artist. Using no power tools (for we know that the Woodland Folk flee from such things), the artist allows the wood to guide her to the hidden house within. If she listens carefully, she will hear the story of the little hous...e.The odd broken shingle and missing brick show that the home owners are not particularly house-proud for Woodland Folk think that there are much more interesting things to do than repair the roof or fix the brick-work. But, being mystical homes, such things are not really necessary. The little houses are all one-of-a-kind, each with a story to tell which is included with the house. “The House Where Love Dwells” Tucked away in a quiet corner of The Great Forest, the Cherryblossom house rests in a sunlit glade, surrounded by towering oaks and ancient yew trees. Cordelia Cherryblossom and her husband Clarence lived there in perfect marital harmony for many years. The day after they were wed, Clarence carved a small heart over their bedroom window to symbolize their true love for each other. Then, one day, Clarence caught a slight headcold, which quickly went to his chest and killed him. With his last breath, Clarence told Cordelia that he would always watch over her. Cordelia was inconsolable. She couldn’t eat, didn’t sleep, and wept from morning ‘til night. Her neighbours began to whisper that “something” must be done. One morning, Cordelia woke to find that a beautiful vine had been carved around her sun porch. “I know it was Clarence, ” she told everyone. “He’s letting me know that he hasn’t left me alone.” Truth be told, no one ever owned up to carving the vine, so perhaps it was indeed, a loving token from Clarence. As for Cordelia, she lived to be 102, and died with a whispered, “Clarence – I knew it was you.” “The House Where Love Dwells” is a true conversation piece whether tucked away in your garden or displayed in your home. Carefully detailed by hand, the piece is approximately 12 inches high by 4 ½ inches wide. The entire piece has been sealed and then buffed to a soft sheen using natural beeswax, resulting in a rich, dark golden brown showing the cottonwood’s natural patterns. This is a one-of-a-kind creation, hand carved from cottonwood bark, numbered and signed by the artist. The price reflects the uniqueness of this piece and the myriad of miniature carving details that make it a collector’s item.
