Ruler is 1/4" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. Specimen weight: 1.48 Gram - 22.9 Grains Size: 12.4X9.4X7.9 mm The focal point of this highly-oxidized, orange-stained specimen is the yellow gold. Pictures don't adequately capture it's full beauty. Born-in-the-U.S.A. rock is a natural occurrence. I guarantee it. All my rocks sh...ow visible gold and are authentic. Your collection should be nicely-enhanced with the addition of this wicked-rich piece. The gold itself is quite yellow almost seeming, in places, to be sculpted. You won't have any trouble seeing gold here with your naked eye. I don't sell low grade gold ores. I sell authentic, naturally-occurring gold quartz ores with visible gold. These high-grade beauties are hard to find and expensive to obtain. My prices are not based upon the amount of gold contained, but upon the authenticity, rarity and collectibility of these unique specimens.

FAST REFUND OFFERED (If, for any reason, you're not happy with this item) I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold. Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many vein systems sourcing the immense placer deposits of the Sierra Nevada Mtns, the famed Mother Lode. MINER'S CATS/COATAMUNDIOne of Quartzsite's infamous desert rats, 'Crazy Larry' Erdman, took us on a guided tour of his mine, a deep, cavernous placer deposit with a reputation for rich, cemented gravels. I'm sure old Larry would never exaggerate (ha) when he said that a hundred feet down on bedrock, there were seven miles of drifts running out laterally. That assertion would be hard to prove. We did see several stoped-out side chambers which conceivably had tunnels extending outward. The numerous Layers of stratified gravel hanging suspended from the ceilings imparted an uneasy, queasy feeling on a person realizing the least little ground tremor might bring down the roof. Because of the cool underground temperature, Larry spent much of the torrid Arizona summer living down in his hole. It was no mansion, nothing like Coober Pedy for sure, but he called it home. Personally, I couldn't take the stagnant, guano-permeated air. Along with bats, other fauna shared his cool castle. He said the footprints scattered everywhere alongside his own belonged to coatamundi also known as miner's cats or ringtails. On various other occasions, I had my own run-ins with these nocturnal critters, so it was understandable how such amiable little critters had wound up being characterized as miner's pets. One memorable incident occurred on a prospecting expedition near Yuma. Late one night, figuring the engine compartment of my van would make a fine dining room, a member of the local ring-tail clan clambered up onto my truck engine and commenced cleaning the contents of discarded soup cans. Shaken from a deep slumber, try wrapping your mind around that ruckus at about 1 o'clock in the A.M. Thanks for checking out our digs. Gold of Eldorado 1-14-13
