EFFECT
There have been many magic trick where the magician "print" real money onto blank paper. The Midas Machine is the ultimate version of this classic. Here, the illusion of printing is unbelievable. The spectator seem to see ink being transferred onto the paper. The magician displays a new money printing machine. A sheet of blank paper is placed into a printing frame, on which ...the etchings of a $10.00 bill can be seen. The frame is inserted into the printing machine. The paper can still be seen through a window. Visually, as the frame is withdrawn, the sheet of blank paper is seen to change into a real $10.00 bill. The spectator himself can remove and examine the bill.
DEVELOPMENT STORY
We can say that the classic magic tricks designed to transform a blank sheet in a real banknote represent what could be one of the dreams of every human being. There is also a very large number of methods to get there. In one of them, very popular, two rollers are used to print, little by little, the white paper will thus become a real banknote. This method, though not very contemporary, is excellent, unfortunately the props is not really easy to carry around. Impossible to take such material in his pocket or briefcase. Despite all I really liked the effect in itself and I wanted to keep the idea that the white paper would be printed progressively. Then I wanted to find a way to adapt this bulky equipment so it can fit in a kind of case flat and compact. Easier said than done, because for the effect to be convincing and retains its charm it was essential that the white sheet is never hidden, even for a moment. However the desire to create this magic does not come to me directly as this. In fact my desire began to sprout with, among other things, the effect "Card Warp" from Mr Roy Walton and I found the idea of seeing the playing card gradually change appearance very interesting and I thought then that it would certainly fun to try to change a blank note to a bank note in the same way.
TRIVIA
The Midas Machine comes in two colors. A pink version and a brown version are available. But the illustrations on the back of the English pack always show the pink version, even when it is the brown model that is sold. In the Japanese version there are two different backs depending on the color of the trick.
