Dioptase on Plancheite, Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia. Ex Coll. Clive Queit"Choice" inadequately describes this combinationpiece consisting of sharp, well-formed Dioptase crystals on a bed of sublime pale bluePlancheite. The light blue hue of the Plancheite groundmass strongly compliments the textbook emerald-green Dioptase.The largest of the Dioptase clusters is 1 cm, presentinginterpenetrating, sharp, translucent, very rich crystals with int...ernal gem-like fire and sublime glow. This piece is highly aesthetic, with the Dioptaseclusters perched along the apex of the piece as ifgemstones on a crown. Plancheite is a very rare copper silicate-hydroxide species from Tsumeb, and thiscombination of color and minerals is exceedingly rare and highly desirable. This piece was sourced directly from notableTsumeb collector Clive Quiet almost forty years ago and has been in a privatecollection ever since. 30 x 25 x 10mm (thumbnail).
