For sale is the 1st of three . . . a RARE antique EMBOSSED and PAINTED SANTA CLAUS CANDLE CLIP (RED) Christmas ornament from Germany c. 1890-1900. These Victorian tin candle clips were manufactured before electric bulb use on Christmas trees. Candles were placed on the tree branches for a brilliant show of light and color.
This candle clip de...picts a Santa Claus in a long red coat and hat, holding a large green tree. A toy bag is shown slung over his shoulder. The same image is on both sides. The clip is in good working order. The ornament shows minor signs of wear and tarnishing. It measures nearly 2 3/4 inches in size - quite impressive when positioned on a Christmas feather tree. This is a very uncommon museum-quality item!
