This large cabinet size specimen measures 21 cm x 12 cm x 4 cm (8.3" x 4.7" x 1.6") for a weight of 1.5 Kilograms.
It is a true piece of American mineralogical's history from 1980 finds, a world class deposit that produced the only gem quality Benitoite in the world. The deposit is now mined out and most specimens are kept in private collections....
The specimen was prepared as Natrolite originally covered Benitoite and Neptunite crystals, saving enough to keep a pleasant contrast between blue Benitoite, black Neptunite and the white Natrolite.Are represented on this specimen an association of four major minerals from this location, Benitoite, Neptunite, Djurleite and Natrolite on Blueschist matrix.
On the center of the piece is a superb quadruplet Benitoite crystals measuring 2.5 centimeters wide.An exceptional occurrence of numerous blue Benitoite crystals are present in both great luster and transparency with 14 crystals up to the centimeter, the widest measures 1.6 centimeters.Lustrous Neptunite cystals up to 2.6 centimeters occur on all the specimen with a large crystallization near the edge.On the druzy Benitoite crystallization is possible to see several Djurleite crystals.
