Something for everyone!Here you are bidding on a very obscure vacuum tube. It is an SJ-1 Detector manufactured by the Kesselring X-Ray Tube Company of Chicago in 1922! It comes with the original box and tube information sheets. Paperwork indicates it was assi...gned serial number 1856 and was dated May 19, 1922.The tube has a good filament, clearly stamped label and a spherical envelope with a good vacuum tip.Internally, the elements look great. There is a vertically oriented cylindrical plate about .5" in diameter and .75" tall with a spiral wound grid of eight turns and about .25" in diameter. Filament looks fine and shows proper continuity.The paperwork is interesting as the shop production paper was originally printed with "Chicago Miniature Lamp Works" which has been crossed out and stamped "Kesselring X-Ray Tube Co." with the serial number and date marked. The operating instructions are printed with the Kesselring company name and address. The box adds further mystery as it is also marked "Chilco Products" with a picture of a miniature lamp. This tube was apperently manufactured right after a buyout by Kessekring X-Ray Tube Co., and they were using up existing materials! Kesselring was a prominate manufacturer of X-Ray tubes from 1910-1920's!! Please see the photos as they represent the condition well. If you have any questions, please ask!
