This illustrated children's adventure book, originally publishedcirca 1875 by McLoughlin Brothers of New York. It depicts the real-lifecharacter of Sam Patch, America's first celebrity daredevil.
Patch made amazing jumps from flagpoles, towers, and waterfallsduring the 1820s, until his last fatal jump from Rochester NY's High Fallsinto the Genesee River ...in 1829. His stunts attracted thousands of peopleand made him an American folk hero to many.
Active from 1828 to 1920, the New York publishing firm McLoughlin Brotherspioneered color printing techniques for children's books. They specialized inthe re-telling of classic children's stories and helped popularize illustratorslike Thomas Nast, William Momberger, and Justin H. Howard.
Condition:
1) This children's book has great graphic pictures that are in very goodcondition with no rips, fading or tears.
2) The cover binding has been taped, but all pages are intact.
This is a very rare book with most being in universities, libraries and museums.
