Up for auction is a Sioux Painted Ghost Dance Shield. It is 15-3/4" in diameter. It is painted with an eagle. Stars, crescents etc. This in my opinion, is a ghost dance revival shield that would date in the 1910's to 1920's. Canvas with a wood frame, sinew sewn. There is a piece of brain tanned leather that holds the canvas together. This piece is out of the Lutheran Reverend Ernest Von Kronwitter that was from Germany but was doing Missionary work in the Dakotas and other Indian...
