Beautiful and highquality, sterling silver spoon from Newport Rhode Island dating to years around1900 featuring on the front and back of the handle very detailed images, starting on the top design with naval anchor and rope and HOPE sign above, below detailed image of Old Stone Mill in Newport and banner across readingRHODE ISLAND, then monument of man holding book in 16th or 17th centuryclothing, below clam and weaving tool close to the bowl. In the bowl embossedis a very detailed ima...ge of stone tower structure, the writing is OLD STONEMILL, NEWPORT, R.I. On the back of the handle it features various Indiansymbols: teepee, canoe, tomahawk, papoose, pipe, etc. Measures 4 1/8" long(103 mm) and in excellent condition. On the back marked STERLING and hashallmark with the old mark of H on a pennant for Mechanics Sterling Company, which was subsidiary of Watson Newell Co. Back of bowl has engraved “Marion1907”.
