I am pleased to be selling part of a large varied collection to be listed over the next few months of high quality vesta matchsafes and table stand-a-lones examples.This auction is for an original late Victorian nickel silver and mounted mussel shell vesta matchsafe.
The shell top has a purple and white finish to it, and to the sides and back it is plain.
Hinges at the back t...o open, and has a striker on the right hand side, (see the second picture above).
Has a small suspension ring on the top.
This would have been a special order and made by a jeweller at the time, and very hard to find one without the shell broken.
Measures approx. 6 cms in overall length this example being the smaller example, please see my other larger mussel shell vesta case also up for sale in my shop.
A lovely tactile piece that would certainly compliment any collection, especially with other sea category 'shell' vesta matchsafe examples.

There is possibly cheaper post on ebay, but not next day signed for, and unfortunately items can go missing if there is not a signature required, thank you for your understanding.
For overseas transactions ‘International Track & Signed For’ or 'International Tracked' delivery will be used, depending on the destination country.
