The bottom housing is of the 1918 - 1955 design with the imprint implying 1948 - 1955. Thebackboard is of the 1930’s - 1955 design and is steel. The top housing is a replica of 1920, made in 1999 or 2, 000. All small parts are old except for some screws, the key, the cardboard directions and probably the dialcenter. It has an original Automatic Electric handset with armored cord, the hand set hook has been repaired/ reworked (looks a bit goofy having one ear not as normal as ordinary). The old AE door is held in by/ with a spring. The open slot and Chicago U.S.A. address give way to earlier payphone era.The Vault Door you see on this phone is NOT a re-pro, but genuine old vault door. These doors are the same as thosewhich date back into the 1930's. I am not familiar with subtle details which determine exact dates; I just know that the doors were made prior to the early 1970's and used in Automatic Electric payphones until both NorthernElectric and Automatic Electric ceased making them in 1972. If you had these made in the same design as these in 2016, the cost would likely exceed $35. Old doors such as these are, can have a peak value of $60 or more. Andhere they are, being offered as part of the payphone adding to the credibility of an old assembly. No lock in the door. Options:MakeFunctional $60.00 (wired so it then can be plugged into a home jack and work)AddRinger $15 (Thereis no room for a ringer in these phones, unless the coil is takenout. They had separate ringer boxes).Old Locking Door with key $45.00History of the Payphone Book $9.95Other changes can be made. We welcome your calls here at Phonco with questions.
