Thank you for viewing this listing of blue forest petrified wood. Blue forest petrified wood is one of the most unique and, yet, diverse types of petrified wood that exist. Found in the vicinity of Eden Valley, Wyoming, blue forest is typically smaller than average petrified woods. A good, general limb size may be about 3 to 4 inches in diameter; some up to more than a foot in diameter; others as little as 1/2 an inch or less. Incredibly, it dates to about 50 million years ago!
As the name suggests, the blue found in this petrified wood is common and varies greatly in both intensity and hue from piece to piece. Brown, green, dark blue to black are also common.
The botryoidal features, chalcedony, and overall agate content produce an amazing array and assemblage of features. With most pieces, you may expect some form of ring details, bug trails, exterior bark details and more. Although you can dig for blue forest yourself, it is not always a guarantee you will find any.
