Here is a rare and vintage Shapleigh Diamond Edge double bit axe, forged by Plumb.The head is full of character and charm. Patina left alone, the edges have been reprofiled and sharpened up by hand. She'll definitely cut. Stamp reads: DIAMOND EDGE - FORGED TOOL STEEL. On the opposite side, there is a very deep and unique triangle marking. Im not sure what it means, but it's super cool and distinctive, will also help you distinguish which side you want for chopping and what side you wan...t for dirtier work when needed. The handle is one of my favorites ive done. She's not very good looking, but don't let the looks fool you, she's got a terrific personality! There were tiny little holes in it from before it was cut into a handle. I attempted to fill them in with wood glue and oil over it. As you can see, it turned out a little blotchy and whatnot, but it's highly distinctive and really fun. Being a handmade handle, it is a little wonky down the middle, but it still feels excellent and a terrific user!
