Sang blues mostly (Apollo, Red Robin...], DOO WOP (Larks, Four Barons, Wheels], Gospel (Southern Harmonaires, Selah Jubilee singers], and R&B duets with his wife, Little Ann (Fire, Lamp). Lead singer on “Eyesight To The Blind”, “Little Side Car”, and “Lemon Squeezer”.
Fire 78’s are scarce and this is the first issue.
CONDITION: V+
It still has lots of gloss,... and does not have scratches or scuffs. But there is groove wear, more so on Side A.
All 78’s are graded by the STANDARD 78 GRADING SYSTEM in VJM MAGAZINE:
N - Nearly mint. Full luster, appears unplayed. No signs of wear or handling.
E+ Plays like new. Barely played. Full luster. Very few mild signs of handling or storage.
E Still nearly full luster. Slight indication of a few careful plays. May have few inaudible scuffs or scratches.
E- Still shiney but without the luster of a new record. Has some grey, mild wear and/or scratches, scuffs.
V+ An average used 78 in which general use and scuffs have dulled the surface. Has considerable grey. Surface noise present, but not pronounced.
V Obvious wear throughout. All or most of surface is grey. Often still plays loud, music above surface noise.
V- Deeper groove wear, even more surface noise. Looking pretty bad, and not playing well either.
G Seriously worn, scratched, scuffed record. Music and surface noise about equal.
F Really deep wear. Surface noise exceeds music. May not play through.
P Unplayable.
