Nice example of an original WWII US MARINE CORPS winter hat as worn by the 1st Provisional Brigade of the USMC was sent to Iceland in 1941-1942. These were also worn before WWII by the China Expeditionary Force. It is roughly a size large, although it has the number 6 stamped faintly into the interior. That can’t be the size. I’m a 7 3/8ths and this fits me comfortably. The sheepskin is all fine and the forest green USMC wool is in good shape - some small separations around the str...ap that would go under your chin which is tucked away inside the folds and not visible when the cap is worn and does not affect the look or wearability of the cap if you wanted to wear it. The pop snap works fine although I had to squeeze it quite hard to get it to snap. Again, you wouldn’t use the snap at all if you were wearing the cap the way it was meant to be worn, with the flaps folded up. Lining is in very good shape. The cap is totally wearable and displays very nicely. It does not have the EGA badge - most of these didn’t - for the simple reason that the mounting screw for the badge would dig into your forehead. Totally original and not messed with. These are rare hats and seldom come up on EBay.
