For sale is this hand signed and inscribed Lajos Markos print titled " the siege of the Alamo" the print is singned in the lower right corner next to the watermark which has A/P 1 written in it, the inscription say's" to mrs & mr Kaporita vits My Love Lajos Markos" the art is in mint condition in a wood frame below is a bio on Lajos Markos art is 24 x 20 frame is 30 x 26 Lajos Markos (1917–1993) was a Hungarian American artist trained at the Royal Academy of Budapest . He came to the... United States following World War II and worked as a portraitist in New York City , painting such celebrities as John Wayne and Robert Kennedy , President Ronald Reagan, The Royal Family of King Hassan II (only one known portrait of the king painted in July 1978, during a reception to honor the present, for his birthday )and Pablo Casals . In his lifetime, Lajos Markos completed over 2, 000 portraits. [ citation needed ] In the 1960s, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he expanded his interest to art of the American west. Examples of his work are in the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, Texas State Capitol in Austin, TX, and the Zigler museum , other prominent museums and major private collections also own his work.JP Morgan has acquired number of his works housed today in the main CEO office building.His portraits are scarce. Lajos Markos Art is well known and loved by many Texans and deserves to go to a good home so that it can loved and admired like my family and I did. This is definitely one of the best conversation in pieces I have ever owned and will truly be missed but I think its time for somebody to enjoy. I had it in my office , man cave , house hallway it would be great for library lawyers office , school , courthouse etc its the perfect piece to own.
