This one is both colorful and intricately preserved in every detail - they don't get much better! That amazingly beautiful high contrast wood grain pattern is one of the fanciest and most unusual that I've seen in a full round from this famous location. It's rare to see such prominent rings in the face of a round cross section in this species (peppertree). There is an amazing agate display mixed in with the petrified wood that includes gold calcite ...as well. Combined with our unmatched lapidary polishing work you've got an impressive show piece! This is as good as they get folks - a true collector piece cut from the center of the log at an every day collector price! Here's an absolutely museum grade Eden Valley, Wyoming, petrified round cut from the center of a perfectly formed log that captures your eye like no other round I've ever seen from this location! It's got really nice wood preservation throughout with a very well defined heart in the center of the log and the most stunning wood grain you'll ever see in one of these pieces. This is truly an absolutely flawless petrified wood round sure to be a real collection centerpiece! You could wait a long time and not see a piece this dramatic! Eden Valley is a vast petrified forest in central Wyoming, home to the Blue Forest and several other uniquely preserved beds of small branches and occasional logs. The digging is hot and dusty, but every once in a while you stumble on a real treasure and this little log is one of them! The dark, blue/black, coffee and chocolate colors the wood is preserved in are characteristic of these specimens, as are the infusions of agate that filled the cracks and coated the log! This is a perfectly flat slice from the center of a larger than average sized log from a pepperwood tree. It's been cut and polished to show off all the gemmy detail from this 50 million year old treasure captured inside. It took a pretty awesome polish - something we strive to produce on every specimen we put our name on! The fibrous cell structure of the radial wood grain is exceptional and easily studied with a hand lens. This is a nice, eye catching specimen, and it is close to perfect - something that will show proudly in any collection. It measures about 7 1/4" across the polished face and is sliced roughly 1/3" thick. Weight is 0.90 lbs.. Stands shown sold separately. A nice, unique naturally wonderful stone collectible exclusively from Sticks-in-Stones Lapidary - eBay's Original Rockshop!
