1869 VERY RARE Planchet STRIKE THRU Error NICKEL THREE III CENT PIECE Coin
Item History & Price
1869 Rare PLANCHET Error Nickel Three-cent Piece IMPORTANT NOTE: This coin is a very well preserved authentic piece of American history, 151 years old. Planchet errors on nickel three cent pieces over 150 years old are rare and very unusual.
So what are these very rare mint...ing planchet errors(see detail photos):
There are distinctive large "strike-through" errors on both the obverse and reverse. On the obverse there are 3 identifiable strike through areas. Above the ear to the left is very easy to identify, there are two other not as distinctive. One in the lower middle part of the neck and the other in the lower left area of the hair curl. On the reverse the easily identifiable strike through error can been seen on the lower portion of the left and middle columns. There is a definite difference between normal coin wear, effecting the condition of the coin, and strike through errors. Some condition wear can also be seen on both sides of the coin. These errors occur when another object comes between a blank and the die at the time of striking. That object's outline is pressed into the blank's surface. Common examples include hard objects such as staples or metal shavings. These hard objects leave sharp outlines and indentations in the coin. These errors make the coin unique and as a result very desirable for collectors or enthusiast interested in unusual US historical coins. This coin is not certified, but I am considered by most of my colleagues as a conservative coin grader. Using existing standards I personally grade this overall coin Extremely Fine (XF). So please look at the scan and grade the coin for yourself as this is the actual coin you will receive. I will leave the actual coin grading up to you based on your judgement using the high resolution scan. The coin is guaranteed to be 100% authentic and I offer full refunds if you do not like the coin once you receive it as long as it is returned unopened in the clear 2X2 mylar holder that we will ship it in. I highly value all of my clients on eBay and I will ALWAYS make sure you are happy with your transaction. Payments must be received within 3 days of auction closing or item may be subject to re-list.
I have tried to do free shipping on all my coins as long as I can. However, now with the high cost of USPS shipping I must add in a flat rate shipping charge on coin items. I am doing a FLAT RATE(including tracking) shipping of $3.50 on this domestic order. I will combine shipping costs if you purchase multiple auction items on the same invoice.
Hope you have a successful bid, and thank you for looking 3075/2 !! If you would like additional info please contact me.
