This newspaper contains a front page heading and report that JACKIE ROBINSON, a Negro, was being given a chance to play 1st base for the BROOKLYN DODGERS,... thus making Robinson the first African-American to play major League baseball in the modern era. Robinson was signed by Brooklyn on April 12, 1947 and went on to a stellar career in ML baseball.This is the earliest report I have seen in a newspaper of Jackie Robinson being considered for the Brooklyn Dodgers ML team !!Very good condition.
