You are bidding on a vintage Entry Door with Knocker and a vintage Finger Door Push Plate. A description of each follows:
1. Entry Door Face Plate w/Knocker - This Entry Door Face Plate is in the Racine pattern popularized by hardware makers Russell and Erwin ("Russwin") in the early 1900's. The plate is made of brass and features a small Lion's Head Knocker. The back of the Face P...late is marked, "Racine - 900" in embossed lettering. The knocker may have been added onto the plate at some point in time because when I turned it over, the lettering is upside down - See the 3rd & 4th photos. The Face Plate measures 10" x 3" and the diameter of the knob opening is 2 1/4" in diameter. The plate bears the expected surface marks from age and normal use. The knocker has some finish wear on the end of the Lion's nose. There is also some light green oxidation under the knocker as seen in the 7th photo. There is also some oxidation and spots of old paint on the back as seen in the 3rd photo.
2. Finger Door Push Plate - This Finger Door Push Plate looks to be made of Brass and has a simple, but attractive Mission/Arts & Crafts design. The top tapers to a point, with the bottom being straight across. The Plate measures 9 1/2" x 3". It bears the expected faint surface marks from age and normal use. The backside of the plate bears some spots of discoloration and old paint.
These are two very nice and interesting Door Plates...one a Door Plate w/Lion's Head Knocker and the other a Finger Door Push Plate. Both would be a nice addition to a vintage or antique door, but would also be interesting when incorporated into a piece of Altered Art!
