MODEL, YEAR, FEATURES: Emerson made many small Bakelite variations with this classic rounded corner shape in the 1940’s with interesting deco cut-outs, nicely lighted dials, and Bakelite carry handles. This Model 507 is a clean example for an appliance built 75 years ago that was well cared for, and would make a great addition to your home or collection. The Bakelite has a beautiful marbling in it that can be seen in the photos, and the dial lamp will guide the way ...in a dimly lit room. I’ve gone through the electronics recently, and the radio is ready to play faithfully for years to come. CONDITION, SERVICING, PERFORMANCE: Cabinet is free of cracks with the exception of a hairline on the underside where a mounting screw was overtightened decades ago. I repaired it in any case, and it will probably never be noticed. The rest of the cabinet has been detailed and displays with a reflective gloss free of nicks or scratches. Bakelite handle is spring loaded and perfectly functional. When I got this set the dial graphics and numerals were worn and faded, so I created an accurate replica of the original that looks flawless, nicely lit up with the pilot lamp. Electronics have been gone through with a tube replaced, and a change of capacitors and electrolytic filters to remove hum and distortion. Many other checks were done of components, solder joints, etc. and all moving parts, bearings, controls and tube sockets were properly cleaned / lubed. I rewired the the power switch to work properly with a new power cord with a polarized plug on its end. After an extended operation through many on/off cycles, this “All American Five” tube radio is now sensitive after an alignment, receiving all our AM stations across the band with very pleasant room filling sound from the orig. speaker with no hum or distortion. Interior and chassis quite clean with no dust build-up or odors. The back panel was replaced with an accurate replica and is well fastened. Radio has its original knobs and mounting hardware, tubes are easily serviced and are commonly found to this day if needed, DIMENSIONS, SHIPPING: Radio measures 11.1 inches wide, stands 7 in tall, and is 5.8 in deep from the front of the knobs to the back panel (old 6.5 Oz. Coke bottle in one photo placed to give sense of scale and to show reflective surfaces). I’ve shipped well over a thousand delicate tube radios for the past 22 years on eBay with fine packing materials and methods, radio will be sent off on the day or day after payment is received.
