Please note that same cross/medal prices vary, based oncondition, age, and appearance. This antique cross is from an estate collection, and it is on auction to benefit several Carmelite Convents we work with.This medal is 1.75 inches in diameter and was cast from bronzeover 100 years ago. Many were used by Christian soldiers as a form ofprotection, like the Catholic St. Christopher Medal.On one side is a picture of the Battle of Lechfeld, 955 A.D, above the inscription 'CRUX/S/VDALRICI...' (cross of St. Ulrich), on the otherside is St Benedict between Saints Ulrich and Afra, with the Trinity above, andthe shield of St Benedict below. The St. Benedict & St. Ulrich cross/medal wasconsidered in the 18th century amazingly effective against plagues caused by ofmice.Thanks for your kind support of our work!
