This is a collection of three old vintage carved Navajo Folk art pieces, from my parents things, recently out of storage.... two carved Chickens, and one carved wood Black Bear. I am listing another 3-piece collection as well, shown in the last photo. This auction is for the first photos only.Two wonderful, whimsical carved chickens, neither of which are signed, but the red one comes with its original tag, showing, Guy and Edith John, as the maker. The black bear is also wood, but his ...ears appear to be metal. They are made of cottonwood, with raffia tail feathers. Condition is great vintage, bright, and with no fade. The red one has a broken beak, as shown. I was going to make a new one out of the pointed end of a tooth pick, but never got around to it. The blue one has a natural crack in the base, from age, I imagine. All show minor signs of use, and come with some dust! ..The blue chicken with black starbursts measures 9" to the top of his tail x 2 7/8" across the base...The red chicken with white dots measures 10" to the top of his tail x 2 1/2" across the base....The bear measures total length of 7 1/4", from nose to back foot x 2 1/4" wide x is 4 1/4" high to the top of his ears.For any questions you may have prior to bidding, please use the number below.
