Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:44250243 | Country/Region of Manufacture: South Africa |
Featured Refinements: Calcite |
The rhodochrosite, as seen by the photo of the backside, was formed atop negative casts of presumed calcite. The shallow vug on the surface is blanketed by beautiful pink rhodochrosite. The Wessels mine is a world famous mineral locality--nearly 125 different minerals have been found here as well the mine being the type locality for 17 species. Good rhodochrosite specimens are in demand from ANY locality and this one is quite aesthetic.
When I purchased Tom's inventory, I obtained very many ex-Charlie Key specimens. These, despite the OBG label, were likely not from Charlie Key's collection but rather from his dealer stock. Noted collector and dealer Marcus Origlieri (Mineral Zone) acted as an agent for Key and brokered the sale of hundreds of specimens to Tom. This stock was one reason I was anxious to obtain the mineral inventory from the Corson estate.
This is an excellent specimen and I will price a bit below Tom's original asking price. I've looked around and have found thumbnails online that have sold for nearly $100 so this is, I feel, an exceptional bargain.
Please check my feedback and my other eBay items. All specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed and I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than a century ago,
"Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense."
Thanks for looking!
