NATIVE ARKANSAS LETTERS 1908-09 RATHBUN ALDEN, AMAZING STORY OF LOVE AND TRAGIC. Showing 2 letters out of four plus two post cards. Historic letters of the life and tragic end of Rathbun Alden, son of the late Dr. Philo Alden and his beloved mother, Ida Alden. These letters cover his sickness and the battle creek Michigan Sanitarium to his time when he and his father traveled aboard a steamer for Germany seeking medical help overseas. This is a must read and very collectible piece of h...istory around the Bentonville, ARK area. It's obvious he died right after he got home on June 5, 1909. I have not read but a portion of these letters and cannot take pictures of each letter. We will take out one letter from each lot as an example of the contents of these letters. Some of these letters may have more than one page. Again, this is an important piece of history in the Cave Springs, Centerton, Bentonville, ARK area. It's a story of an early life, and the love of a dying son and his love for his family. Dr. Philo Alden one of the earliest Doctors in North Western Arkansas did all he could for his beloved son. I would not sell these letters but these letters as well as all the other pictures and letters of the Alden and Rife family need to be in an appreciative home or museum.
