I love revitalizing these pieces of wood, bringing to light the flaming of the roots, the bird's eye buried by dark patinas, soiled with tar. I do not just clean the pipes, I restore them. As far as possible, I try to eliminate every little sign of wear, both from the chamber and in the stem; I remove the burns from the walls, I clean the smoking chamber from the accumulated cake, I remove any marks on the briar, and make the stem shine again. Over the years I have developed personal techniques and have constructed my own work tools. I only use natural products for my pipes, like carnauba wax for polishing and food alcohol for the sterilization of stems. It's a job I do carefully, looking for the best result without being too "aggressive" on the pipe; in essence, the pipe, at the end of all the procedures, become the best it can be compared to its initial state, without distorting its essence. My old pipes have a new life, but they do not seem new, they are simply reborn and ready to smoke!
