Sperry model 3070-02 PC/HT personal computer in great cosmetic condition, powers up and boots to the Seagate ST-11 hard disk controller. A very interesting IBM PC/XT clone with the motherboard, video card, extended memory board (256K total RAM), and floppy drive and disk controller manufactured by Mitsubishi. Contains an original IBM 1503236 ASYNC card and a Seagate ST-11 MFM hard disk controller, with a Seagate ST-1100 84MB 3.5" hard disk. The hard drive spins up and... sounds good but the computer will not boot beyond the identification of the drive by the controller.
The overall condition is very good. There are some scratches in the paint of the cover and there are some rust spots on the back slot covers, but otherwise it is very clean. The false cover over the hard disk slot is slightly warped. There is no discernable leakage from the motherboard battery. The battery is putting out 0.23V according to my voltmeter but the buyer will probably want to remove it.
The computer requires a PC/XT style keyboard to boot up, otherwise it beeps out an error code of 4 and 1. I temporarily removed the controller to try to boot off the floppy drive; the drive spins up and engages the heads a few times but the computer returns a floppy drive seek error. Also, the drive doesn't eject the disk when the latch is opened. The keyboard port has a crack on the connector but I've verified that the system responds to the keyboard (CTRL-ALT-DEL resets it). Some troubleshooting and repair will be required. Overall this is a very nicely built clone PC, much closer in quality to the original IBM PC/XT rather than the cheap stuff that eventually overwhelmed the PC scene. No keyboard or monitor included. Sold as is.
