1945 seems to be a tough year to find for Dunhill's and it is almost certainly due to the fact that WWII was ending and the shop was bombed a few years earlier and still being recovered. Alfred persevered and even gifted pipes to the soldiers to thank them for their service! A lovely straight Billiard this shape 34/1 is about a Group 3 and also not a shape often seen yet a classic in its own right. The chamber affords plenty of capacity and this pipe at only 26g would make a perfect cl...encher. The shank is relatively long and meets what appears to be the original vulcanite stem with cream colored white spot and straight bit. The more red version of the Root Briar finish not often seen has taken on a beautiful patina with age while the grain displays swirling birdseye on the left with spectacular starburst on the right. This now 75 year old Dunhill is ready for another lifetime of smoking!

Dimensions: 5 1/4" Long, 1 11/16" Tall, 20mm Chamber Width, 1 3/8" Chamber Depth
Condition: Very Good. Chamber is clean and sound. Rim shows residual darkening with some wear to the interior edge. Stem is beautiful but has some deep depressions from tooth marks that I have smoothed out as much as possible. Overall clean throughout. Weight: 26g
